On April 1st through the 30th, we're taking a trip...
Not a "get-on-a-plane-and-find-a-hotel" kind of trip. An online trip. To uncover your website's profit-friendly potential.
“What kind of technical expertise do I need to have for this excursion?”
You should be computer-literate (if you don’t feel comfortable using your browser and the internet, this trip probably isn’t for you). You should know how to access your website to make changes, although you’ll get a ton out of the excursion even if you decide to have someone else implement your strategy for you.
You don’t need to know HTML or CSS. If you’ve encountered something that you can’t get to work, ask about it in the forums. Either I or one of your fellow happy miners will guide you in the right direction.
If you know that playing with your website’s code is going to drive you into fits of hysterics (even with the resources and guidance that is available), it’s perfectly okay to hire someone to do it for you. (Though I won’t be for hire during the excursion, I’ve got several great resources for that.)
“Do I need to have a WordPress website?”
It’s not necessary, though I do recommend having a website with some sort of content-management system if you’re going to be making changes yourself. And if you don't have a website...
“What if I don’t have a website yet?”
I actually designed a gorgeous website that I'm giving away only to gold-digging participants (it's called Vega...scroll up to see it). I'll show you how to get it going and customize it to fit your brand. It's built using WordPress and Headway, which means that you can update the content yourself and customize the design with drag 'n drop ease.
“Will I be able to implement all of the strategy myself?”
If you’re a DIY-type, that’s what we’ll be focusing on for you -- stuff that you can do yourself with the right information and guidance. But if you’re looking for the best website strategy regardless of the skill it takes to implement, we’ll dig into that as well.
“What if I’ve got mad HTML/CSS skillz (or even moderately good ones)? Is this excursion going to be heavy on the basics?”
Most of the basics and code-related stuff will be handled in the how-to guides and in the forums, which are offered as resources for people who aren’t as savvy as you. The main instruction is all about strategy, strategy, strategy so you won’t have to wade through website basics. This excursion is meaty.
“Are you going to recommend a professional website re-design?”
If your website is a complete eyesore, I will let you know. Kindly and privately, of course. I might even recommend switching over to the Vega site design that I mentioned above.
“Do I have to be online at a specific time to take advantage of the mining excursions and other group functions?”
No. Login whenever’s convenient for you. Each info-brimming mining excursion will be made available to everyone at 12:01a EST on the date that it is scheduled, so you can work on it at any time of day, whatever time zone you’re in.
“Can anyone volunteer to have their website evaluated in front of the group?”
Yep. Absolutely anyone in the group can participate in this. Comments will be closed on these evaluations, and they will be done in an instructive and non-sarcastic manner (your website is your baby...I will not harm your baby.)
“What happens after I register?”
After you’ve successfully registered, I’ll send you your pre-excursion interview, along with instructions on where to send it when your done. A week before the excursion, I’ll send you your login information so that you can start getting acquainted with the site and how everything works.
“Can I split the cost with a friend?”
Sure thing! You only get one account, but if you want to go halfsies with someone, go right ahead.
“How much does it cost?”
The price for the month-long excursion with me is $650. Or $325 now and $325 by April 12th (you'll receive an invoice for the final $325 on April 1st). You'll also get my latest site design for free, and I'll walk you through how to get it going and make it your own. There are about 10 slots left as of this writing on Thursday, March 17th.
This gold-digging excursion will absolutely change the life of your website and its profit-generating potential. You’ll also learn a ton of strategic web principles that you’ll carry with you to the end of the earth. And if it doesn’t work for you....
“I feel like my website isn’t working, but I’ve worked so hard on it. I don’t know what else to do.” “I can’t afford to have a professional re-design my site. Is there anything I can do myself so that my business can be more profitable?” “What is my website missing? Why aren’t people buying my stuff?” “I have a really nice website, but it's not bringing in the money that I need. What do I do now?”I get these questions all the time. Since I’m a web designer whose super power is to help people actually make money from their websites, I tend to mull over them. During dinner, while I’m walking my dog, while I’m playing Super Mario Wii. And then come the epiphanies...at the most inappropriate times. Like when I’m out getting the mail and my 60-year-old neighbor comes over and starts yelling that the leaves on my magnolia tree keep dropping in her yard. After pointing out that there are only two leaves in her yard (which I will gladly pick up), I begin to gush about how people think they must have hundreds or thousands of readers for a thriving online business, but it’s just not true. Or in the middle of the night when I’m too deliriously tired to properly handle a pencil, I nearly-maim my husband’s left arm in an attempt to scribble out my ideas to make websites stickier. (By the way, website stickiness is a term I use to describe how effectively your website gets people to stay around long enough to connect with -- and buy -- that thing they need from you.) Whenever I start speaking in exclamation points, it’s usually about website strategy. So not only do I get to hear everyone’s most agonizing website difficulties, I also get encouraged to teach a class on this already. However, I don’t feel like a class can fully encompass the excitement of what happens when you uncover your website’s money-making potential. The average client who implements my web strategies increases their income by 75% in the first 8 weeks. So it’s more like exploring the cave of your website and discovering handfuls of glittery currency where you previously saw only dust and rocks.
Bring on the gold-digging excursion!
On April 1st through the 30th, I’m embarking on a journey with a group of happy miners who want to dig up their website’s hidden profit-opportunities. Like any gold-digging experience, this is a very hands-on process. Some of the things we’ll be doing:- Website assessment: Figuring out the state of things. Whether your online business is fully hatched or you’ve been steadily growing over the course of years, we’ll figure out the state of your cave so we know the territory we’ll be covering together. You’ll receive a pre-excursion written interview to fill out and send back to me so that we’ll both be on the same page.
- Info-laden mining excursions three days a week. These are done in a mixture of video, audio, pdf, and plain ole text so that you can be sure to have the format that works best for you. All of the information we’ll be covering will be tailored to the needs of the group.
- Worksheets and interactive activities. I am not a sit-down-and-listen type of person. I’m a doer. These worksheets and interactive activities (including brainstorming launchers and how-to guides) will fulfill the do-er inside of you (and result in your website actually getting the strategic attention it needs to thrive).
- Mining tools to help you be the most effective. These include book recommendations, must-read articles, people to know, and other resources that will boost your effectiveness.
- Bonus points: Volunteers needed. This is a safe environment where volunteers can stand up and get my public (to the group) website evaluation. We will cover aesthetics and design, but the ultimate purpose will be unveiling the most strategic, profit-building moves for your website.
- Interaction with me and your fellow miners in the cave dwelling. This is where I’ll be posting questions and brain-storm igniters for you to use. You can also ask your own questions and get answers to any of your probing website questions.
Update from Sarah: For those of you who have been emailing me about your website woes (as in..."I don't have one!" or "My site design sucketh!"), I've come up with a solution. You ready? It's really good. I have designed a website for you. First, you should know. It is hot. Second, it's built in WordPress, which means that it's easy peasy for you to update your content yourself. And finally, it's built on the Headway framework, which means that you can customize it with drag 'n drop ease. I'm calling it Vega, and it's exclusively for my gold digging peeps. (Click on the image to open a larger version.)There will be surprises and adventure. There will be fits of glee. And most importantly, there will be you and me, discovering your website’s full money-making potential.Beautiful, right? Usually a customized LiteSite design is $1500. I am giving Vega away to all of the gold-digging participants. And I'm going to show you how to use it and make it your own.
